I recently got a quotation for Norflk UK to Karachi airfreight (charges for cargo to be sent from UK to Pakistan by air) among many other charges such as Fuel Surcharge etc. there is a head called WAR SURCHARGE, I asked my friend TM to explain for what WAR they are collecting Surcharge from us, The Afghanistan WAR, the I-RAQ WAR, the Syria WAR, the Libya WAR, the Somali WAR or perhaps A NEW that they are planning. Or this money will be used to arm some terrorist group in some muslim country to fuel sectarian violence or support the military regime in Egypt or Apartheid Israel.
It is possible that they are collecting this WAR SURCHARGE for the money they give our government for being ally in the WAR AGAINST TERROR which they call COALITION SUPPORT FUND and when they give this money to our government they handover a list of DO MORE demands and threat if we don't do this they will not pay us Coalition Support Fund. But i am curious to know, if we are paying this WAR SURCHARGE which makes up for COALITION SUPPORTS FUND then its our money not their money.
I can remember that there was a highway being built in NEW YORK State a few years back that would facilitate heavy traffic, all cargoes from Pakistan to USA were subject to a surcharge which was meant to be the FUND for development of this particular highway and bridge. I ask many shipping gurus do we charge US Cargo for road developments in Pakistan or even for roads destroyed by their military cargo to Afghanistan which is commonly known as ISAF / NATO, US ARMY cargo? they answered No, we don't get a single penny for this.
When our politicians and bureaucracy plunders the country, they take all the black money to US, Europe and live luxurious lives over there, their banking system does not ask any questions as from where you got this money? They acquire properties but no one ask them through what channel they brought in this money? but when one of our banks does this, allegedly, BCCI gets shut down worldwide.
Our criminal go hide in their countries and get asylum, get legal protection and even they are funded, and let operate freely in the name of freedom of expression. Do they fund these terrorist against Pakistan using our own money?
Yet we are corrupt, we are criminal, we are terrorist and they teach us morality like a high priest, order us like Lords, and pretend to be the policemen and sole guarantor of world peace and humanity.
I request my colleagues in Pakistan and other countries involved in Import, Export or Shipping, International Freight Forwarding to ask at least what WARS are we paying for and why? My country is no WAR ZONE, then why collect WAR SURCHARGE from us? this is not our WAR, if this your WAR, then you should FUND it.
